According to a recent Atlas VPN report, 37% of companies lose more than $ 100,000 per cyber attack. In addition to financial damage, companies also spoil their reputation, lose corporate information and face interruptions in the work of partners.

The report is based on the Cybersecurity Census report for 2022, published on September 15. It presents the results of a survey of 516 top - managers making decisions in the field of IT.

As a result of successful cyber attack, 14% of companies lost less $ 5 000, 8% - from $ 5 000 to $ 9 999, 16% - to $ 499999999999% cybercriminals stole from $ 50,000 to $ 99,999.

In addition, 22% of companies suffered significant losses - from $ 100,000 to $ 499,999. In 11% of companies, cybercriminals stole from $ 500,000 to $ 999,999. And 4% said that after a successful attack they lost more than $ 1 million. In total, 2% of organizations did not know about real losses.

In addition to direct financial losses, companies face other negative consequences of cyber attacks. 31% of respondents mentioned attacks-related failures in working with partners and customers, another 31% — theft of financial information. 28% reported reputation losses from - for cyber attacks.

According to Atlas VPN analysts, a medium-sized American company is subjected to hacker attacks 42 times a year and on average 3 of them are successful.
