China Says It Will Protect Sovereignty and Development Rights and Denounces the U.S. 104% Tariff Increase

With a Foreign Ministry official stating that Beijing will "not flinch" in defending its national interests, China has responded forcefully to the United States' imposition of 104% tariffs on Chinese exports. China's resistance to what it described as American "intimidation, threats, and blackmail" was highlighted in the statement, which also emphasized that such actions will not impede China's progress.

The spokesperson declared, "The Chinese people are not troublemakers, but we will not back down when faced with challenges." We will never let anyone to jeopardize China's interests in growth, security, or sovereignty. The U.S. must exhibit equality, respect, and a dedication to mutual gain if it is sincere about engaging in discussion. China will firmly oppose any acts taken by the United States that violate its own interests, as well as those of China and the international community, by intensifying a trade war until the end.

The remarks were made at the same time that the new U.S.. tariffs that target dozens of other countries at different rates in addition to China. The breakdown of tariffs levied on important nations is provided below:

18% of Nicaragua and Zimbabwe
